Notice of Annual Meeting and Election
The Annual Meeting of Schools Federal Credit Union will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 in the Community Room located at our Rancho Dominguez office, 2200 W. Artesia Blvd., Rancho Dominguez, CA 90220.
At this meeting, three persons will be elected to fill three positions on the Board of Directors. The nominations below have been made by the Nominating Committee; additionally, any member in good standing may have their name placed in nomination by submitting a petition signed by 1% of the membership (currently 22,437 members), with a minimum of 200 and a maximum of 500 signatures required.
To be eligible to run for the Board of Directors, a volunteer position that requires a minimum of three hours per month, you must:
- Have an S1 share account with a minimum of $5.
- Have not caused a loss to the Credit Union.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
Nominating petitions and an election packet may be obtained from Mrs. Jerri Highfill at 310/ 632-0100, extension 352, and must be completed and returned to the Credit Union by March 31, 2010. There will be no nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting. When there is only one nominee for each position, the election will be by acclamation and no balloting will take place.
The Nominating Committee has nominated the following individuals to serve three-year terms on the Board of Directors:
KAREN HEMINGWAY
Ms. Karen Hemingway has served on the Credit Union’s Board of Directors
since 1986. Before joining LAUSD in 1984, she worked for the Santa
Monica/Malibu Unified Schools District and the Los Angeles Community
College District. She retired as LAUSD’s Director of Contract and
Insurance Services.
JEANETTE GORDON
Ms. Jeanette Gordon has served on the Credit Union’s Board of Directors
since 2001. She has worked for the Los Angeles Community College
District for more than 25 years, and held the position of Controller
from 1988 to 2006. She was appointed the Chief Financial Officer
of LACCD in 2006 and continues to hold that position.
KIM KENNEDY
Ms. Kim Kennedy has served on the Credit Union’s Board of Directors
since 2007. She served on the Supervisory Committee for the Credit
Union since 1999 and was the Chairperson from 2002 to 2006. She joined
LAUSD in 1995 and worked in the District Earthquake Recovery Program
to assist LAUSD in recovery from the Northridge earthquake. Ms. Kennedy
managed the FEMA Project Management Unit and presently manages Central
Facilities Management.
