Check Your Financial Wellness
Financial wellness involves more than getting the best rate on a car loan or saving in a high-yield certificate. It means understanding your total financial picture, identifying your best financial options, and knowing what steps to take if you’re struck by financial difficulties.
We offer a variety of services designed to improve and maintain our members’ financial wellness, including:
Free Credit Review
Most people know what a credit report is. But do they understand what’s in it, how the information is compiled, and most important, what it tells prospective lenders and employers? We give our members a free annual review of their credit report, identifying areas where improvement may be needed.
In-House Financial Counseling
Jerrie Johnson, our Financial Education Manager, works with members to help them create budgets, rebuild or establish a credit history, and avoid predatory lenders. Members can call her at 310/ 632-0100 to arrange a confidential meeting.
Youth Savings Programs
It’s never too early to teach kids good savings habits. Kirby Kangaroo®‡ encourages children to save by offering rewards as their balances grow. His web site is filled with games and stories that make learning about money fun.
CU Succeed®‡ gives teens practical financial advice from their peers who have been there and learned from that. It publishes online and print newsletters with articles about balancing a checkbook, buying a first car, examining the fine print on credit card offers and other topics of interest to teens.
