Congratulations to the graduating class of 2023! As a financial institution that has been committed to helping our members achieve their financial goals since 1939, we understand that higher education is often the first step in securing a bright future. That’s why we are pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship to four of our members who are investing in their future through education.
We have extended the deadline to submit your application to Friday, May 12, 2023 Friday, May 19, 2023. Recipients of the scholarship will be notified by Friday, May 19, 2023, Thursday, May 25, 2023 and will be invited to attend our 2023 Annual Meeting at Knott’s Berry Farm.
All submissions will be reviewed by a committee, and the recipient will be selected based on their:
- Essay on financial literacy (minimum of 500 words) and how proper money management is just as important as education.
- High school transcript(s)
- Letters of recommendation (minimum of 2)
- Remember to include any extracurricular activities, including school and community involvement, volunteer work, and work experience.

Terms and Conditions The recipient of the award must be a member in good standing (must have a Member Share Savings account and not have caused a loss to the Credit Union) before disbursement. Application is available to all graduating students who qualify for Schools Federal Credit Union membership or a current LAUSD student. Membership and maintenance fees are waived for minor accounts. Account will continue to be fee-free and will be classified as a College Account. Submissions will be reviewed by a committee. Scholarship funds will be deposited to a share account (savings or checking) at the credit union. The recipient must have a valid TAX ID number, such as a Social Security Number along with a government-issued Identification Card.
